lil yellow beastie

Soooo...if you've been paying attention you remember seeing this lil yellow beastie back at Uncle Charile's in MO when we were back on vacation.... well said lil yellow beastie made the long trek out to Oregon....

and here it is rounding the corner .....

and here it is arriving safe and sound in front of the house... of course George had to work that day... so I was under strict orders to take as many pictures as possible so he would be able to "see" the beastie coming home..

It took some coaxing to get it started once it got here...but we eventually got it down off it's trailer and ....

so it didn't quite get into the driveway under it's own power... that's ok... it's a long trip and she's not as young as she used to be... ;)

but she's safe and sound in the driveway now... just waiting for George to start working away... one of these days she will be restored to former glory.

Deb's 40th Birthday

So.. the great dreaded day arrived..... I'm 40!!! OMG!!!! not possible... ok... maybe it's not possible..but it's true.... so we had a nice little party with some friends/family...after this long it's hard to tell who's not blood related! LOL =) we had a nice time.... and I finally got the Kitchen Aid I've been dreaming of for I don't know how many years!!! But there's nothing better than fabulous friends, great family and chocolate cake to make a potentially depressing day a winner! thanks and love you all...hoping for another 40+

Fun at the Fair!

We had a busy Labor day weekend...we went to the circus Saturday night...and then on Monday we went to the State Fair... first George talked me into riding the sky tram thing... which was ok...the picture of the ferris wheel was taken while I was riding that tram contraption... Then George was able to talk me into going for a ride on the ferris wheel..I hadn't been on one before... but it was kinda fun.
This is us on the ferris wheel..

The Dinosaur exhibit was pretty cool... here we are with a couple of the dinos... =)

Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus!!!!

Every year for as long as I can remember the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus has come to Portland within a week of my birthday. Every year I say "I'm gonna go this year"..... and haven't.... until this year for my 40th birthday George to me to the CIRCUS!! It was so much fun! I loved every minute of it... oddly it was one of the most refreshing and fun things I've done in a long time!
Had an absolute BALL! This is just a sampling of the spectacular sights we saw...

George's Birthday 2010

So we stumbled across some really good bargains for the backyard...A huge Umbrella and a shaded swing... of course some assembly required...

Here's George enjoying the rewards for his hard work and effort of assembling the swing.. which has become one of my favorite spots to spend the evenings now! except for the mosquitoes...blimey things...had to get a few things to help keep them away.
This is the backyard set up for the little get together we did for George's birthday. We Finally set up the patio set (we've had it since last year!) and dug out the little canopy and set up the umbrella...had some really nice shade which was greatly needed as it was a hot day!!!

Dragonfly vistor

We've had some very pretty visitors in the yard lately... This pretty one sitting on a wire was in the backyard on George's birthday haning out soaking up some rays and spying on the humans. lol

This brown beauty was in the yard a couple weeks ago when I was out doing some gardening...pulling dandelions...I felt guilty when I saw him a couple hours later going back and forth eating from the few dandelions I had left....I guess it was a good thing I was too tired to pull them all!!

death of a good little truck...

Soo we had a casuality... George's little white ranger caught fire and burned... this is George and Rick pushing the little truck around the corner to the "little truck morgue" who determined that it was a total loss...... a very sad day. :(

We were however fortunate enough to find this little green jewel to replace the the little white truck :-) I hope it serves as well as the little white truck did.

George's exciting new project

While we were back in Missouri visiting, George discovered that Uncle Charlie has the project car of his dreams... so deals were made etc...etc... and so once it's all paid for and delivered (my Aunts were thinking maybe a road trip) this is the lil beastie he will be working on....

painting project...

So we had the wonderful idea to take the guest room....as seen above, and paint it and turn it into our bedroom...and then turn our bedroom into the new guest room.... lets see how it goes...

George the painter... :-)

The semi-finished room... we haven't moved up there yet, George wanted to replace the windows first but I think that project has been put on hold until some other things settle down again... George says it color is "tinkerbell" green but it's really not..but in some lighting it is similar

Grandma!

This is the view of grandma's house from the backyard...

Grandma and I

All of us

George checking the fuses for the water heater for Grandma

Grandma wrapped in the shawl I made for her.

Fun with Charlie

So here's some pictures of George and Charlie, having a blast... they worked on the motorcycle...
and while on our adventure with Charlie we found a Dr. office that doubled as a military museum... which I thought was an unusal combo but very interesting.
we stopped at Adams for frozen custard...adding another 15 pounds...lol.. but it was yummy and the building was cool.
We saw the greatly debated MO~IL bridge... and of course George and Charlie being silly!!! lol!

St. Louis Trip 2010!

This was at Rizzo's(?) forgive me if I've got the spelling wrong...where George and Becky got George the "fishbowl"... This had to be the biggest beer I've ever seen!! Then we were treated to Ted Drewes frozen custard....I think we gained 15 pounds with that one dessert! but it was good... We also were able to sample some wonderful peach wine from SugarCreek Winery, they had a band playing...if was a perfect day...sunshining, fabulous family, wonderful wine..and some good tunes to accompany the good time!!

and of course we made it to the Arch...and NO I did NOT go up in it!! LOL ya I know I'm a chicken....
